Summit to Wall Street

Summit to Wall Street

Summit to Wall Street is an 8-week summer program coordinated by Career Development staff and is available free of charge to any student interested in a career in finance.  It is conducted via the college’s online learning platform with weekly assignments that are done independently by students wherever they are.

The Summit to Wall Street program is best for rising sophomores and juniors during the summer. Rising juniors will flow right into applications and interviews for post-junior year internships at the end of the summer. Rising sophomores can spend the next year networking with alums and others in the field in order to better their chances at getting a great internship as a rising junior.

Summit to Wall street is a significant time commitment estimating about 8-10 hours per week. The program combines career development strategies (resume, cover letter building, interview prep etc.) and Wall Street Prep courses. Wall street Prep is a global investment banking training platform, specializing in financial modeling self-study programs as well as instructor-led and e-learning modeling training. Both entities of Summit to Wall Street prepare students for the demands of investment banking, corporate finance and sales and trading positions.

Critical Areas of Learning Include:

  • The structure of banking and other financial institutions and the positions Trinity students might consider pursuing
  • Requirements including academic, extra-curricular, and beyond
  • How to augment Trinity’s liberal arts curriculum with strategic courses in other areas
  • The aggressive recruiting timeline which can include interviews as early as fall of sophomore year

This Program Includes:

  • Wall Street Prep Online – weekly assignments to develop technical skills including Excel, Accounting, Analyzing Financial Reports, Financial Statement Modeling, and DCF Modeling
  • Financial News: guided reading and reflection writing
  • Resume review, edit, and approval
  • Interview prep including behavioral and technical questions, study guides, online prep with video recording and playback capabilities

Course Outline

“For a student at a liberal arts college, the investment banking recruitment process can be extremely challenging. Participating in the Summit to Wall Street program helped me get an early understanding of the finance world and provided me with tools to help me excel in every step of the process, from networking to mastering technical knowledge and preparing for interviews.”
