Full-time Research Assistant at VA Boston Healthcare System sought to work on regional and national studies examining 1) the respiratory effects of deployment-related exposures among Veterans serving in post-9/11 conflicts and 2) the application of imaging analytics on clinical CAT scans to detect early lung diseases among Veterans enrolled in large lung cancer screening programs.
Duties include study recruitment by phone and mail, primary clinical data collection by interview and questionnaires, data entry and management, and quality assurance. Training will be provided in specific study techniques including pulmonary function testing, phlebotomy, and study data collection using quantitative imaging analysis. Opportunities to contribute to scientific abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts are available.
The successful candidate will have a basic knowledge of human biology, superior interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, and knowledge of standard computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access) and Adobe. Previous research or clinical experience with human subjects, familiarity with REDCap, and the completion of a Bachelor’s degree that includes courses in the biological sciences is required. Candidates seeking a 2-year commitment or greater are preferred.
